Fixing Windows

This is a short scene I wrote a while back- features the use of a shotgun

Fixing Windows

“I don’t know what to do,” said the grandson

“Its easy just pull the trigger.”

“But, Grandpa, it’s too heavy, I can barely lift it.”

“Just keep trying, you’ll get it.”

Then little Timothy pulled the shotgun to his shoulder and fired. The gun kicked hard and the child whirled a full 360 degrees before he landed on his back. He couldn’t hear the crash of the broken glass over the boom of the gun.

“Get up, Get up, we have to skee-daddle.”

Timothy felt himself lift off the ground and it hurt his guts when his grandfather threw him over his shoulder. He wasn’t scared, though. His father once told him, “Ol’ Grandpa is one tough son of a …”

He started to gather his wits about him once they returned to the truck.

“Woo hoo, that was some good shootin' boy. You might just have potential, You mother thinks so, but I gotta tell ya I just didn’t see it. Boy oh boy, We got the ole hag good. Woo. Boy oh boy.”

Timothy didn’t quite understand his grandfather’s excitement. They were just “doing chores” after all.

“Grandpa, can you tell me again why we shot out Grandma’s window?”

“Well, Timmy my boy, it’s the fastest was to fix it. You’ve got to take it out before you can put another one back in, see.”

“Oh…well when are we gonna put one in then?”

“Weeee, certainly are not”

“Well who is?”

“Hmm, I suppose that would be Walter.”

“Grandpa Wilson?”

The back end of the truck came round on the gravel and the truck came to an abrupt stop.

Check-in from former playwriting mate

Hey! So I've come to check out your website. Great idea. I haven't written anything since May, but maybe I'll bust out some stuff to post. This scene has lots of great elements to build from, excellent start.
